In the constant flow of rain that is British summer time, it was nice to finally see some sun yesterday. I haven't been feeling too great with my Thyroid lately, so Mike took the day off to help look after Bobby and we thought that a little walk around Heaton Park would do us all good. As usual the park was beautiful and it was the perfect day for a little park adventure.
Although Bobby has had ice cream before he hasn't seemed keen, but really enjoyed the mini-cone that Mike made him from his own double scooper. Being the big fan of ice cream that he is, he had a very proud dad moment watching him eat it (as you do.)
Although we didn't go to far, Bobby still got the chance for a run around and it was lovely watching him run along hand in hand next to his dad. When we fantasize about the more fun side of parenting, this is the sort of thing that I found myself imagining.
Although there were a few people in the park, it still retained a peaceful atmosphere. I found a bench with the perfect view to sit on while Mike and Bobby had a run about. There was something particularly hypnotic about this view, the way the wind blew the trees, the two very tall ferns stood in the middle of the open space. It almost had the effect of re-setting my otherwise very busy mind and making me feel refreshed. It is hard to explain, but it felt like the view and the atmosphere triggered positive changes. I think it shows that nature really is the best medicine for the mind and body.
I hope that you have nice weather near you this weekend and can get out and enjoy the sun.
