I really ought to begin by apologising for the lack of posts recently. I am in the last couple of weeks of my degree and the work has all but taken over. I thought I would make up for it by updating you on what we have been up to lately, especially over the bank holiday.
My husband had a week's holiday from work a couple of weeks ago, so we used the opportunity to take Bobby to the park. I've been trying to get out a lot more with him, as I feel like I haven't done this enough, especially as he is a very inquisitive baby who loves being outdoors. We took him to Heaton Park with the hopes of taking him to the petting zoo. This was closed, but he still got a good look at the donkeys and had a point at them.
He enjoyed the ducks most of all though. Probably because they were very noise - he might have found a kindred spirit.
I am usually very reluctant to go outside when it is cold, but I'm more willing now that it is getting warmer. I feel a lot better once I am outside, so I think I really need to make an effort and it will be worth it if I can have more days like this with Bobby. Pushing him on the swing this morning at the little park near our house followed by a trip to the library was a lot of fun for us both. It wasn't glamorous and I thought he'd had a cheeky poo at one point, but I was perfectly content. It made me think that this is what parenting is really about; these moments with your child.
I also got a bit of me time this weekend, which was nice considering that I am in the middle of exam revision. I went on a two day intensive Introduction to Dress Making course at Ellie Magpie in Prestwich. I have always wanted to be able to make my own clothes, but am majorly incompetent, so I found that this course was great for upping my confidence on a sewing machine. I haven't finished the dress that we were making yet, but will post a picture once it is done. Drinking tea and sewing was a pleasant way to spend a few hours over the bank holiday and I can highly recommend it.
I hope you all enjoy the improving weather and I will post again very soon when I am not up to my neck in revising such horrors as Broadcast Standards and Hollywood Continuity Editing.
