I am willing to admit that I might have a bit of a problem when it comes to fabric. But I would also argue that I'm not as bad as some people. I don't have a massive stash that I have accumulated, but I do have the habit of leaving craft stores (or stores that have a craft section) with a bag of unplanned purchases. I just can't resist! I see something and I can imagine what I would do with it and then I can't get the image out of my head. And then I can't leave the sop without the item. That would bring us to this brilliant beach hut fabric.
How could I possibly resist? I went in Hobbycraft to pick up a ton of felt for the bunting that I am going to be making over the next few months and entering into the WI Lancashire County Show in September. But as well as leaving the shop with my felt stash, I also left with this fabric. When I saw it, it had dress written all over it. A dress that I needed to wear.I physically couldn't leave the shop without it.
That is my argument for fabric impulse buying. I see the fabric (or other craft item as is very often the case) and I see the finished item. Does anyone else suffer from this problem? I need to finish a skirt that I started quite a while a go, but once that is finished I am going to have a go at a dress from this fabric, and also one from some bicycle fabric that I bought ages ago. There's quite a bit of fabric, so I might end up with some left - a matching bag perhaps? A couple of matching tote bags that I can sell at the WI trade fair in October? This fabric is an investment. Will someone please explain this to my husband?
