I don't normally get too medical here on the blog (mainly because my expertise is in media), but I wanted to share my story of the problems that I have had with autoimmune conditions, especially during pregnancy. As well as the problems that I had during pregnancy I have had problems since which may affect future births, so I felt it was important to share what I have learnt in the event that others are in the same boat. The two conditions that I will be talking about here are Vitiligo and Underactive Thyroid. I especially want to talk about my experience with vitiligo, as I have read about people having patches fill back in once they are pregnant, but not of the condition getting much worse as happened to me. Please note that I have no medical training, this post is based on my own experience with these conditions. Please contact your midwife, health visitor or doctor if you have any concerns about your health.
As today is International Yoga Day, I wanted to reflect on everything that is brilliant about yoga, the benefits that it brings to adults and children and how it has helped me over the years. This is the day to celebrate all things yoga!
I have found some great Earth friendly products recently that I want to share with you. I think they have been around for a little while, but I have only just discovered them and am rather impressed.
I've been meaning to try clean eating for a long time. I'm not a fan of fad diets at all and avoid them at all costs, but I have been very aware of what I eat since having a child and want to be a good example for him, as well as looking after myself so I can keep up with him. Clean eating appeals to me as it cuts out all of the rubbish that all too easily finds its way into our diets these days, and focuses on nutritious foods. Although having said this, I've had my hand forced recently and am finding that I am having to eat better whether I like it or not.
Cloth nappies have been becoming more popular lately, but cloth sanitary towels? I regularly saw them advertised and reviewed in Juno and Green Parent magazine, but I never put much thought into trying them for myself. I don't know why this was, maybe I was suspicious that they wouldn't work or would be too much of a hassle. I did a major life overhaul last year and did some research, with the intention of making my life more environmentally friendly. I changed my mind when I discovered that they can be as bad as disposable nappies in terms of environmental impact.
