Those that know me well will know how I feel about this mornings result. But my opinion aside, we are a divided country this morning and it is important that we move forward anger and intolerance. There are going to be a lot of upset and disappointed people, and I am not going to lie I am worried about how this change will effect my family's future. We are in uncharted waters and it is hard to know how things will work out, so it is important that we work together, despite our differences in opinion. The result has been announced and the decision is final, so all we can do is work with what we have.
Let's not make this a time for blame and finger pointing. Let's get over the division that this country is currently experiencing and move forward. Both sides will need to work together to chart the path and negotiate our future. There are a number of rights and laws that have come from the EU that are important to our country and the future of the planet, such as those in the environmental sector and it will be important to maintain these. It will also be important to, whether we like it or not, re-establish ourselves as a solo act in the global market. We cannot do these things if we are fighting amongst ourselves.
It has been a heated few months and I have a bad feeling that the debating and finger pointing is not going to end here, so I ask each of you, from the political leaders to the regular citizen to please rise above this. The situation might look dire at times, but let's please rise above any nastiness that might arise from either side and cooperate. We must acknowledge what has happened and the message that is being sent from it and resolve to move forward in a manner that is positive and non-alienating to any party. Only then can we re-build and move forward into a brighter future.
I don't normally venture into the political on this blog, but I have felt concerned about the state of the nation after this mornings result and felt that it was important to put something positive out there. Now lets' try and have a nice weekend.
