I can't believe how quickly July has passed and it has certainly been a packed month, with my graduation and a lot more going on. As we enter August, I wanted to share some of things that we have been enjoying in July. Bobby's favourite thing this month has been feeding himself yogurt. He is really enjoying Little Yeo's fruit yogurts and never refuses one, which is handy as he is going through a bit of a fussy eating stage. Here are some others things that we have been enjoying this month.
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
I have owned this book for about 15 years now and first read it in 2005, as I can see from some of the notes in it that I have dated. I recently began re-reading it and was shocked to find that my dreams from 11 years ago are exactly the same as those that I have today. I still long for the same things and I think that 20 year old me would be very upset to know that I still haven't achieved those things that I have so wished for.
Neko Atsume - Cat Collector
In the month of Pokemon Go, I have been playing another game on my phone (when I get a spare few minutes here and there.) With my lack of data, Pokemon has not been an option, but this cute cat collecting game is proving to be just as fun. In Neko Atsume (available from Google Play Store) you try to attract cats to your house by placing various toys and food items in the garden. Each cat that visits is logged in your 'Cat Book' and you can taken pictures for posterity. There are also rare kittys to collect which you can find by placing particular items in your garden. For example, Mr Meowgi paid a visit to my garden after I added a scratch-log. My mad cat lady dreams have finally come to fruition. It was only a matter of time.
I used to draw all the time, taking art at GCSE in high school and at AS level in college. I have missed it a great deal especially as I have had problems with RSI over the last few years, but I am not getting back into it again. Below is a picture of Bobby helping me, mostly by using the eraser which is why the pad is open at a page of random doodles. I can't share any drawings with you just yet as I am hoping to sell some sketches at a trade fair in October, but I will try and keep you posted with some sneek peaks leading up to it.
I've actually been doing a lot of arts and crafts lately, also in preparation for the trade fair and have been doing a lot of card making. As the fair is in October, I've been making Christmas cards which feels a bit weird in July, but that's how it goes with this type of business. Speaking of business, I will be setting up my craft business officially before the trade fair and am also hoping to get a stall at a local makers fair. So watch this space for news. :)
I have just discovered Tiny Tumble on BBC i-Player. I'm not sure how interested Bobby is in it, but I love it. The show features a little animated version of Something Special's Mr Tumble, who jumps into pictures and goes on adventures. The animation and style are very sweet and relaxing. My favourite episode is 'Over The Moon', in which Tiny Tumble helps the cow that jumped over the moon (from the nursery rhyme) to get home. This episode is pictured above (taken from the CBeebies Tiny Tumble page). I am loving this programme and hope that it gets another season.
I hope you have had a fantastic July and if you live in the UK that you have been enjoying the nice weather that we have had lately. What are your July favourites?
